Adding and Updating SKUs

Adding and Updating SKUs

Keeping your product catalog accurate ensures correct picking, labeling, and shipping of every order.

Adding New SKUs

To add a new SKU, submit a ticket or contact your account manager with the following information for each new product:

  • SKU code (must be unique within your account).
  • Product name and description.
  • Product unit price
  • Unit dimensions (length x width x height in inches).
  • Unit weight (in pounds, including packaging).
  • Barcode (UPC or EAN).
  • Country of origin and HS code (required for international shipments).
  • Any special handling or storage instructions.

Updating Existing SKUs

If a product's dimensions, weight, or barcode changes, notify your account manager immediately. Incorrect dimensions or weights can result in carrier billing adjustments (dimensional weight surcharges) that will be passed through to your account.

Discontinuing SKUs

To remove a SKU from active status, confirm with your account manager how to handle any remaining inventory (ship to you, donate, or destroy). SKUs with remaining stock cannot be deactivated until the disposition is resolved.

Kits and Bundles

If your orders involve kitting (assembling multiple components into a single sellable unit), provide the kit definition including the parent SKU code and component SKU codes with their required quantities. See the Kitting article for more details.
