International Returns

International Returns

Managing returns from international customers is more complex than domestic returns due to customs, import duties, and carrier limitations. YouParcel offers several solutions to simplify cross-border returns.

Challenges with International Returns

  • Return shipping costs from international destinations can be prohibitively expensive for low-value orders.
  • Customs duties may apply when goods re-enter the US, depending on the declared value and product type.
  • Different countries have different requirements for return shipments.

Options for International Returns

  • Virtual return / refund without return: For low-value items, it may be more cost-effective to issue a refund and allow the customer to keep or donate the item locally. This avoids return shipping costs entirely.
  • Local consolidation points: YouParcel has a presence in the UK and Turkey. Returns destined for US inventory can be consolidated at these locations and forwarded in bulk, significantly reducing per-unit return freight costs.
  • Carrier return programs: DHL and other international carriers offer return label programs for specific countries. Discuss availability with your account manager.

Customs on Re-importation

When returned goods re-enter the US, a Customs Form 3311 or equivalent may be required to avoid re-paying import duties. YouParcel can assist with the documentation. Contact your account manager or a licensed customs broker for guidance on your specific products.
