Picking and Packing Overview

Picking and Packing Overview

YouParcel's pick and pack operations are designed to deliver 99.7% accuracy on every order. This article explains what happens from the moment an order is released to the moment it leaves the warehouse.

Picking

Once an order is released, a warehouse associate receives a pick task on a handheld scanner. Each item is located in its warehouse bin, scanned to confirm the correct SKU and quantity, and brought to a packing station. Multi-line orders are picked in a single pass where possible to minimize travel time and errors.

Packing

At the packing station, items are verified against the order, packed into the appropriate carton or poly mailer, and any required inserts (marketing cards, dunnage, tissue paper, custom packaging) are added. Packing materials used are either client-supplied (preferred) or YouParcel-standard materials billed at cost.

Custom Packaging

If you supply your own branded boxes, mailers, tissue paper, or inserts, send them to the warehouse as part of your inbound inventory. Notify your account manager with clear instructions for which orders or SKUs should use which materials.

Pack Verification

Each packed order is weight-checked or scanned before the shipping label is applied. If the pack weight differs significantly from the expected weight, the order is flagged for manual review before shipment.
