A Return to Origin (RTO) occurs when a carrier cannot deliver a package and returns it to the shipper's address, which in this case is the YouParcel warehouse.
Common Reasons for RTO
- Incorrect or incomplete delivery address.
- Recipient not available for delivery and no safe drop location.
- Package refused by the recipient.
- Address does not exist or is non-deliverable.
How YouParcel Handles RTOs
When an RTO package arrives at the warehouse, we log it against the original order number, photograph the condition of the package, and notify your team. The package enters a hold status until you provide re-delivery or disposition instructions.
Your Options for RTO Packages
- Re-ship: Provide a corrected address and we will reship the package. A new shipping label fee applies.
- Inspect and restock: If the contents are sellable, the units can be returned to inventory.
- Hold for collection: We can hold the package for a defined period if the customer will collect or arrange their own forwarding.
- Dispose: If the goods have no recovery value, we can arrange responsible disposal.
Storage Fees for RTOs
RTO packages that remain unresolved after 14 days may accrue storage fees. Please action your RTO notifications promptly to avoid unnecessary charges.
